Training percentage calculator

Turn a 1RM into usable percentage loads.

Units

The default uses a 90% training max, a common coaching buffer that keeps percentage work repeatable across real training weeks.

Coach workflow

Use percentage loads after you know the strength baseline

Start with a tested 1RM, an estimated 1RM, or a recent heavy set. Then program from a conservative training max so the plan survives normal fatigue and real client schedules.

Set the base

Use true 1RM for testing blocks or a 90% training max for repeatable weekly programming.

Choose the load

Pull exact percentages for warm-ups, work sets, back-off sets, and volume prescriptions.

Adjust with context

Pair the table with RPE or RIR when the client needs a lighter or heavier day.

Training percentage calculator FAQ

How does the training percentage calculator work?
Enter a tested or estimated 1RM and choose a training max percentage. Trainnode calculates the training max and a load table from 100% down to 50%.
What is a training max?
A training max is a conservative base for programming. Coaches often use 90% of a true or estimated 1RM so percentage work stays repeatable across normal training weeks.
Should I calculate percentages from true 1RM or training max?
For max testing, use the true 1RM. For day-to-day programming, a training max usually gives cleaner loads and leaves room for fatigue, technique, and recovery.
